biography
Yasmine was never good at team sports or traditional athletics… so she joined the circus. Training as an aerialist and acrobat from the age of thirteen, Yas developed a curiosity for movement and discovering the body’s physical capabilities, leading her to earn a degree in kinesiology from Dalhousie University.
While at Dalhousie, in between studying and working as a circus performer and instructor, she worked as a student athletic trainer with the men’s basketball team. This is where she found her passion for Athletic Therapy, combining fitness, high performance athletics, and injury prevention and management. She went on to earn an Advanced Certificate in Athletic Therapy from Mount Royal University and is waiting to write her certification exam.
For the past ten years, Yasmine has worked in several gyms and studios across Canada, doing everything from group fitness instruction, aerials and acrobatics group and private classes, and personal training. Her clients have ranged from teens and adults getting into fitness for the first time, varsity level athletes and professional performers working on skill development and injury prevention, elderly folks looking to maintain their strength and mobility, and so much in between. Yas sees personal training as a means to empower her clients to achieve not just their fitness goals, but goals in all aspects of their life as well.
