    biography

    Brooke Stelmach graduated with her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University in 2006, after completing her undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Health with honours at the University of Toronto in 2003. She currently holds her Level 3 in Manual Therapy with the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Brooke has taken post graduate courses in manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation (inner ear) and the tempomandibular joint (jaw joint) and continues to enroll in post graduate studies to keep current with the latest research and to refine her clinical assessment and treatment skills. She also has been a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association’s Sports and Orthopaedic divisions since 2007.

    Brooke has over 11 years of experience working as a registered physiotherapist. She has previously worked in the financial district for nine years and has also worked in the Durham region and the Yonge and Eglinton area as a full-time physiotherapist. She is proficient at treating all age groups with various repetitive strain, sport and physical activity injuries, preoperative and postoperative orthopaedic conditions, and aches and pains that arise from work or daily activities. She has a special interest in treating clients with tempomandibular joint dysfunctions (i.e. jaw pain and clicking), vestibular dysfunctions (i.e. vertigo, dizziness) and nerve pain (i.e. sciatica, carpal tunnel).

    She endeavours to treat each client’s injury thoroughly. She assesses and treats with a client centered approach to help facilitate a complete and quick recovery. She accomplishes this by taking the time to listen to their needs and goals, taking a thorough history, and performing a detailed physical examination to get to the root cause of their injury, pain, impairment or dysfunction. Brooke treats accordingly with an evidence based and manual therapy focused approach. She also educates clients about their injury and encourages them to take an active role in their rehabilitation to speed up their recovery and maintain or improve their own performance or function, and to help avoid the possibility of future injuries.

    Brooke believes her background and experiences in competitive and recreational sports including rep level soccer, alpine ski racing, beach and court volleyball, running and dance (tap, ballet, jazz and hip hop) help her understand the impact of a client’s injury. She firmly believes in providing quality and personal one on one time with clients during their sessions. This enables them to address any questions or concerns they may have. Also, to make sure they feel confident and well informed and assist with reaching their expectations regarding their treatment and recovery.

    Outside of work, Brooke can be found playing beach volleyball in the summer and court volleyball in the winter, in addition to skiing down the slopes north of the city in the winter and jogging along the lakeshore to train for her 10 km runs.

    • Earlier this year I made the decision to get healthier and stronger. I have issues with sciatica and needed someone who could understand my limitations. I signed up for 40 sessions with Jenna. After the first day I won't lie I wanted to sleep in a constant hot bath for weeks...this was after the first couple lol but Jenna would push me and text me. Jenna is a fantastic couch and motivator. She helps you get out of the workout funk and understands when you need a week off to reset. She pushes you hard at the gym but I promise you she is doing it because she knows the results you will get. My but has never looked so good and I am very impressed with the weight I can lift/leg press. This is all thanks to Jenna. If you really want a change I HIGHLY suggest you see her.
